EV Charging Systems Infrastructure Design

FJD Consulting have been involved in the Electrical and Civil Engineering design associated with the new EV charging installation at the South Lakes Porsche Centre.

Client: Actemium
Location: Porsche Centre South Lakes, Carnforth
Discipline: Electrical & Civil Engineering

FJD Consulting have been involved in the Electrical and Civil Engineering design associated with the new EV charging installation at the South Lakes Porsche Centre.
The project comprised the installation of 2No new 120kW DC super chargers at the site. Due to site infrastructure challenges, this requirement resulted in a new supply from a local sub-station into a local feeder pillar, then out to the EV chargers.
The FJD M&E team took the lead on this project, analysing the required new load, the capacity on the local substation, and then producing a full electrical design including cable calculations and selectivity studies to ensure full compliance with BS 7671.
Once this had been completed, our Civil Engineering team developed a set of foundation designs for the new feeder pillar and the EV chargers, giving due consideration to the local ground conditions. This was a particular challenge as there was no GI survey undertaken. The FJD team employed their extensive
experience and knowledge of design standards to facilitate the applied solution, delivering a comprehensive solution tailored to the project requirements.
