FJD Consulting provided technical advice on the use of RapidRoot foundations on 8 No. replacement LOC Staging Platforms along the Shrewsbury to Gobowen Line. Following technical advice on suitability of RapidRoot foundations, FJD carried out detailed design for 4 No. LOC Staging Platforms with RapidRoot foundations and 4 No. with Helical pile foundations. On site support was provided during topographical surveys and staging locations based on topographical & infrastructure clashes.

SUSTAINABILITY
- Lightweight steel foundations were used instead of concrete foundations as they were the most carbon friendly option.
- Where appropriate, foundations that can be installed using handheld tools rather than on track plant have been specified.
- By utilising foundations that could be installed with handheld tools as much as possible, the amount of on track plant used during nightshifts was minimised, with works being carried out during line blocks. This limited disruption caused to the local community by reducing air and noise pollution.
